Gensets for Reefer Containers
Unlike conventional refrigerated trucks, which have their own built-in cooling unit, a maritime reefer container is not equipped with an engine to generate power. Its compressors require a continuous connection to a three-phase power supply (typically 460 V, 60 Hz). Since stationary power is unavailable on the road, specialized attachable equipment is used.
Use of Generator Sets (Genset)
To provide power to reefer containers on truck chassis, diesel generators known as gensets (Genset / Generator set) are used. They ensure the continuous operation of the refrigeration unit during transit.
